We are looking for an energetic, fast-paced food preparation worker to assist our all-vegan kitchen by preparing food ingredients. The team member will wash, peel, slice, trim, chop, and grate fruit and vegetables, and measure, weigh, and mix a wide variety of ingredients. Additionally. kitchen team members will be plating all food and smoothie items.

To be successful in this role, you will ensure quality and stability of products by complying with production guidelines, following standardized recipes, overseeing product quality through adequate storage and product rotation. Preferred candidates will be enthusiastic, dexterous and have stamina.

Job Title: Kitchen Team Member/Food Prep

You Are Someone Who Can:
Work effectively with kitchen team, and comply with company procedures and food safety policies.
Prepare workstation with required ingredients and equipment, and keeps station sanitary and organized throughout shift.
Prepare ingredients following recipes and guidelines.
Steam vegetables, rice, beans and other basic cooking responsibilities.
Ensure ingredients are tagged, date-labeled, covered, stored and rotated effectively.
Oversee food levels and restocking items on time.
Keep utensils and equipment clean and sanitary.
Establish stock levels at end of shift and capturing information on standardized stock sheets.
Remove trash and clearing storage bins, and do dishes. 

Qualifications & Requirements:
High School Diploma, GED, or suitable alternative.
1+ years kitchen production experience.
Excellent understanding of food preparation fundamentals.
Ability to follow recipes.
Sound understanding of food allergies and foodborne illnesses.
Basic mathematical skills.
Proficient knife-handling skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Available to work shifts, on public holidays and over weekends.

A Day at Salud Might Look Like:
Setting up and sanitizing work stations.
Following prep lists created by team leads.
Measuring ingredients and seasonings, and preparing cooking ingredients such as rice to be used in the cooking process.
Preparing simple dishes, such as bowls or salads.
Ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible.
Plating simple dishes, cleaning plates for dish-washing.
Supervising food and cooling room temperatures.
Accepting or rejecting ingredients from suppliers.
Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen.
Preparing drinks and smoothies.
Standing and moving for 8 hours.
Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
